Ghost modefor perfect shots
Turn on Ghost mode and a faded copy of an earlier photo sits over the camera, so you stand in the same spot, the same distance away, every time. Then just say “Now”.
Line it up. Match the ghost and your photos line up month after month, so the slider shows real change, not a new angle.
Filmed on an iPhone: the ghost lined up, then the shutter.

Pick your ghost. Your oldest or newest photo, any photo you choose, or one of 16 body outlines. Set how faint it is.

Just say “Now”. The voice timer takes the photo hands-free. Say “Redo” to take it again, or use the 3 or 10 second timer.

Crop & Align. Pan, zoom and straighten each photo behind a fixed frame, just like Apple Photos.

Bring your old photos. Import up to 50 at a time from your library, and crop each one to match.
A nudge when it's time. Get a daily, weekly or monthly reminder, at the time you pick.
Then. Now.Wow.
Pick any two photos and see the difference: drag a slider across them, set them side by side with your numbers, or play the whole album as a timelapse.

Slide to compare. Drag across the photo to wipe from then to now. Try it: it's the real screen.
2 × 1, with your numbers. Side by side, with every measurement and how much it changed: weight down 28 lbs, body fat down 12%, from May to October.
Video. Your whole album as a timelapse, from 1 to 0.15 seconds a photo, fading or snapping, oldest or newest first.
1 × 1 and full screen. One photo at a time with its date and your numbers on it. Expand any view to fill the phone.
Track trendsover time
Log your weight, measurements, mood, costs or anything else with each photo, or fill them in from Apple Health. Trends charts every number, with the photo from that day beside it.
Watch the line move. Drag along the chart and the photo changes to the one from that day.
Sample album

Measure anything. Numbers, 1–5 ratings, text and pick-lists, in imperial or metric, filled in after each photo.

Works with Apple Health. Fill in weight, body fat, lean body mass, BMI, waist, resting heart rate, active energy or steps. Then & Now only reads from Health, and that data stays on your iPhone.
Streaksyou can see
Your calendar fills with photos. Set a daily, weekly or monthly reminder, and the calendar counts how many in a row you showed up for.

Total privacy.Your data, your rules.
No account, no servers, no ads. Your photos stay in the app, on your iPhone and in your own iCloud, and any album can lock with Face ID.
- Locked with Face ID. Make any album private. Its cover is blurred, and it locks again when you leave the app.
- No account needed. Open it and start. There's nothing to sign up for.
- Never on our servers. Then & Now has no servers, no analytics and no ads. With iCloud Sync on, your albums sync through your own iCloud.
- Out of your camera roll. Photos stay in the app unless you choose to save them to Photos.

This is the perfect tool for taking daily progress pics. It’s simple and private with an album level lock - no need to flood your photos roll with pics in an underwear. Plus the developer is very responsive and been adding more useful features since I got the app. Love it !

been taking progress pics for months but just saving them to my camera roll with no organization. this actually lets me compare them side by side and the ghost overlay helps me take the photo from the same spot every time. also nice that theres no account to set up, i just opened it and started using it.

This a clean and simple app without all the bloat to track progress. I have been using it to track my latte art every day. My progress is slow but I’m noticing the difference with this app. Also worth noting, the app keeps all your photos on your phone, so no privacy concerns here.

Packed full of features for someone trying to lose weight and build muscle. I used to stare at two pictures side by side but this makes it much more pleasant.

Questions,answered
Who can see my photos?
Only you. There's no account, and Then & Now has no servers, analytics or ads. Your photos stay in the app on your iPhone and, with iCloud Sync on, in your own iCloud. Make any album private and it locks with Face ID.
What's free, and what does Premium add?
Every feature is free, with up to 99 new photos a week. Exports from the free version carry a small "Then & Now App" logo. Premium removes the weekly limit and the logo.
How do I line up my photos?
Turn on Ghost mode: in the camera, tap the overlay button next to the shutter until it says "Ghost". A faded copy of an earlier photo sits over the camera so you can match your position. Choose which photo it shows, or a body outline, under the album's pencil → "Ghost Overlay".
Can I track things other than my body?
Yes. Albums come in eight types: Body, Selfie, Renovations, Plants, Pets, Food, Baby and Custom, each with its own measurements. People use it for pets, gardens, home projects, hair, skin and even latte art.
Does it work with Apple Health?
Yes. Then & Now can fill in weight, body fat, lean body mass, BMI, waist, resting heart rate, active energy and steps from Health. It only reads, never writes, and Health values stay on your iPhone.
Is it on iPad or Mac?
Then & Now is made for iPhone, on iOS 17 or later, and it's in English. It can run on an iPad or an Apple silicon Mac as an iPhone app.
